The Backyard Garden at the Museum of Vancouver (MOV), in partnership with Afro Van Connect and our Fare Farms Initiative, is inviting community members to join us for a hands-on Garden Volunteer Work Day on September 19.
Together, we’ll spend the day caring for the garden, strengthening the space, and preparing it for continued community use.
🌿 Our Goal for the Day: Mulch the Garden Pathways
Our main goal is to mulch the pathways throughout the Backyard Garden. This work will help suppress weeds, retain moisture, improve the pathways, and create a more welcoming and accessible garden environment.
Volunteers will help with moving and distributing mulch, covering pathways, tidying garden areas, and preparing the space for future community activities.
No previous gardening experience is required. Whether you're an experienced gardener or simply want to spend some time outdoors and contribute to a community project, you're welcome to join us.

The Fare Farms Initiative is part of Afro Van Connect's ongoing work to connect food sovereignty, urban agriculture, environmental stewardship, culture, education, and community well-being.

Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor work, closed-toe shoes, and weather-appropriate layers.
