Fare Farms Mid-Summer Harvest Event
Fare Farms Mid-Summer Harvest Event Dig In. Share the Harvest. Grow Community. Join Afro Van Connect Society's Fare Farms Initiative for our Mid-Summer Harvest Event, a community celebration that brings neighbours, families, volunteers, and food lovers together to celebrate the season's harvest while strengthening connections through food, culture, and community. This special gathering invites participants to harvest fresh produce from the Fare Farms garden—including one of the season's most rewarding crops—while learning about urban agriculture, food sovereignty, environmental stewardship, and the power of community gardening. Whether you're an experienced gardener or harvesting your very first crop, everyone is welcome. This family-friendly event offers a fun, hands-on opportunity to connect with nature, meet new people, and celebrate the incredible work that has gone into growing food for our community. Throughout the day, participants will harvest fresh produce, explore the Fare Farms gardens, connect with fellow community members, enjoy light refreshments, and learn how community gardens contribute to healthier neighbourhoods, stronger local food systems, and greater environmental sustainability. Growing More Than Food The Fare Farms Initiative believes that gardens cultivate far more than vegetables—they cultivate relationships, knowledge, culture, and belonging. Every harvest reflects the collective efforts of volunteers, partners, and community members working together to build a more sustainable, resilient, and food-secure future. Every vegetable harvested is a reminder of what we can accomplish when we grow, learn, and share together. Come get your hands in the soil, celebrate the season's harvest, and experience the joy of growing food with your community. 🎟️ Admission: Free Join the Harvest Everyone is welcome. Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for gardening. We'll provide the tools, guidance, and plenty of opportunities to learn and connect. Together, we'll harvest more than food—we'll cultivate community.
