Vancouver Queer Film Festival 2026: Celebrating Queer Stories, Cinema & Community
🏳️🌈 Vancouver Queer Film Festival 2026 September 10–20, 2026 — In Person | September 21–27 — Online The Vancouver Queer Film Festival returns for its 38th annual festival, bringing audiences together to experience bold, imaginative and community-rooted 2SLGBTQIA+ cinema. Presented by Out On Screen, VQFF celebrates queer and trans stories through film, conversation, education and community connection. This year’s festival runs in person across Vancouver from September 10–20, followed by online screenings available across British Columbia from September 21–27. 🎬 Stories That Challenge, Celebrate & Connect The Vancouver Queer Film Festival creates an important space for 2SLGBTQIA+ filmmakers, artists and communities to tell their own stories and see the diversity of queer experiences represented on screen. The 2026 program stretches across documentaries, drama, comedy, romance, animation, experimental work, social-justice films and more. Alongside screenings, audiences can participate in panels, workshops, filmmaker conversations, industry programming and community gatherings. This year's program also includes stories and programming reflecting a wide range of experiences, including Two Spirit and Indigiqueer, trans, nonbinary and genderqueer, lesbian, gay, bisexual and pansexual, intersex, disabled and other queer communities. 🌈 More Than a Film Festival Film can be a powerful space for visibility, cultural memory, resistance, imagination and belonging. VQFF provides opportunities for audiences to encounter stories that may rarely reach mainstream screens while creating space for filmmakers and communities to connect with one another. For Afro Van Connect, we recognize the importance of cultural spaces that allow communities to tell their own stories, challenge stereotypes, build relationships and imagine new possibilities. We encourage our community—particularly Black, African, diasporic and QTBIPOC artists, filmmakers and audiences—to explore this year's festival and support the storytellers bringing these perspectives to the screen. 🎟️ Experience VQFF 2026 📅 In Person: September 10–20, 2026 💻 Online: September 21–27, 2026 📍 Various venues across Vancouver 🎬 Presented by Out On Screen Individual tickets use a sliding scale from $7–$19, and festival passes are also available.
